Mrs. Barnett is celebrating 16 years as the Sweetheart Director. She is a graduate of Joshua High School where she was on the award winning dance team for 4 years. Serving as a lieutenant for 2 years and Captain her senior year. She was awarded several individual awards at numerous competitions. From there she attended Tyler Junior College where she was a member of the Internationally Famous Apache Belles where she was a member of their Elite Squad for 2 years. After Tyler she transferred to the University of North Texas where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in history. She earned her masters degree in Education Administration from Lamar Universtiy. Mrs. Barnett is currently certified to teach both Dance and PE and has a prinicpals certification as well. She is married to her husband, Ryan and they have a son Camden.
Mrs. Barnett was named Director of the Year by DTDA in 2008 at the yearly convention. She is a senior staff member for HTEDance and is serving as the 3rd Vice President for Drill Team Directors of America for two years. Mrs. Barnett has been a part of the choreography staff for the Award winning Adolphus Children’s Parade and New York Extravaganza. She is currently the Parade Director for the Dallas Holiday Parade. Her choreography has been featured at the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasedena, California. She has been an award winning choreographer for many teams, officer groups and solos all over the state of Texas and Arkansas. Joshua Dance team has been a part of many special events and contests. The Sweethearts are have been named National Grand Champions as awarded by Showtime International and HTEDance. This team is an award winning team who competes all over the state of Texas winning various awards. They have been a feature group in the Adolphus Children’s Parade, AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic, New Orleans Sugar Bowl, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Cowboys Holiday Halftime.
