At their September 21 regular meeting, the Joshua ISD Board of Trustees recognized members of the JISD family.
The board recognized members of Joshua High School’s NJROTC Rifle team for their outstanding performance at a sanctioned rifle match in Anniston, Alabama, during an advanced marksmanship camp. Of the 16 shooters who advanced to the finals, eight in Sporter and eight in Precision, an incredible 11 were from Joshua.
In the Precision Division, Joshua swept the top three positions. Team captain Cooper Dent earned 1st, followed by co-captain Jayden Werner in 2nd and Kaydi Stone in 3rd. In the Sporter Division, Ryan Walley continued Joshua's success by earning 1st.
Competing at this level against talented shooters from across the country is an accomplishment in itself. Placing 11 shooters in the 16 available finals positions and bringing home first-place finishes in both divisions is an exceptional way to begin the year. If this is any indication, the 2026–2027 school year promises to be another very successful season for the Joshua Rifle Teams.
